New maternity photographs being added today to our pregnancy gallery.
I love the deep rich tones of the blue fabric and the dark red backdrop. The backdrop was actually bright pink in daylight, but it became a deep red in the dark studio, producing fabulous shadows and depth in these images. The silk chiffon fabric also moves with such fluidity … just beautiful.

Another fabulous maternity shoot. Each shoot is so different, because every woman is different and they all carry their babies differently. So I have to approach each session in a unique way, trying to understand the subject and the relationship between the mother and her baby, and then finding a way to bring this out through the style of the photograph. Everything matters — the exactness of the pose, the highlights and shadows from the lighting, the direction of the gaze. All for one perfect picture to capture the special moment before birth … a woman’s body and life in transformation.

Images from my recent photo shoot with two gorgeous twin girls. They were absolutely lovely to photograph — both individually and together. It was fun watching their dynamic as they snuggled together while we posed them. And I absolutely LOVE that in the shot of them in the wooden bowl, the shape forms a heart. Sigh.

Another image from the same shoot. She was so precious and tiny, so I tried to ensure we captured the fingers and toes close up.
These images will be added to my newborn gallery on my website.

Absolutely love this image from a newborn shoot a few weeks ago. Such a gorgeous little girl, who just curled up serenely in this fur-lined bowl. Really love the natural symmetry and balance.

Photographic print sizing: part 2 - wall print size guide
This is part 2 of a 3-part blog about print sizing.
I find myself more and more making large wall prints for my clients, and this guide is really great for helping them think through what the sizes will really mean when they hang a portrait on the wall.
Part 1: standard image sizes and ratios (click to see previous post)
Part 2: wall print size guide (i.e. how large will something look on a wall?) (today’s blog)
Part 3: how to think about photo walls or corridor / stair case photo collections (coming soon)
Just finished a great maternity shoot this weekend. Here are a few sneak previews. Will add more to my website soon: www.studiodeidre.com
